Vietnam is a country on the continent of Asia.

IS IT VIETNAM OR VIET NAM?

Both are correct! If you want to follow the most common English usage – Vietnam.

If you want to be more correct in terms of Vietnamese – Viet Nam.

If you want to be really correct in terms of spelling and pronunciation – Việt Nam

AREA OF VIETNAM

A common mistake, many think that Vietnam is two separate countries – North and South Vietnam.

For many years (actually most of it’s history) Vietnam has been separated into two countries – North and South Vietnam. But since 1975, Vietnam has been unified under one country.

IS VIETNAM SAFE FOR FEMALE TRAVELERS?

Is it safe to travel to Vietnam? and Is Vietnam safe? are the two most asked questions in the Vietnam travel-sphere — which is great because it means people are keeping personal safety top of mind. If you’re always aware of yourself, your surroundings and your belongings, you’re likely going to be safe in Vietnam.

IS IT SAFE TO TRAVEL VIETNAM SOLO?

On a personal note, I traveled to the majority of cities in Vietnam by myself, and felt very safe. Now, this wasn’t magic; I made it a priority to stay safe by not walking home alone at night, never drinking too much, etc.

Check out my Vietnam Solo Travel Guide for more info on Vietnam travel safety for solo female travelers.

WHAT IS THE BEST TRAVEL INSURANCE FOR VIETNAM?

This is a question I get a lot as a Vietnam travel writer and Vietnam expat. To determine which Vietnam travel insurance is best for you, consider factors like the policy’s total cost, your deductible, the coverage you need, your medical benefits, etc.

🏆 In general, I only ever recommend three companies to purchase Mexico travel insurance from:

  • World Nomads — For general travelers and adventure travelers.
  • SafetyWing — For general travelers and digital nomads in Vietnam.
  • Travel Insurance Master — Vietnam avel insurance search tool, for those who want to compare policies.
  • 👉 Click on any of the links above to get a FREE quote on your policy!
