Introduction to November Weather in Hanoi
I need to start this whole article out by saying November is by far my favorite month to be in Hanoi! Sun, clear skies (mostly), pleasant temperatures – it is just such an enjoyable month!
November is when Hanoi truly starts to shine. As one of the best months to visit, the weather in Hanoi in November strikes that perfect balance—cool, comfortable, and excellent for exploring the city.
If anyone asks me when they should visit, I always say, “If you have the flexibility, come in November!” The city feels alive, the weather is unbeatable, and everything from walking around the Old Quarter to taking a day trip to Halong Bay is just more enjoyable this month.
Compared to the wet summer months or even the early autumn months, November feels different. The heat and constant threat of rain are gone, replaced by pleasant weather that’s perfect for spending time outdoors. Mornings and evenings can be cooler, while the afternoons are warm but not overwhelming. It’s a good time for walking tours, day trips, or even just sitting by Hoan Kiem Lake with a coffee.

Typical Weather Conditions in November
November in Hanoi has pleasant temperatures and crisp, comfortable days. The average high temperature during the afternoons sits around 25°C (77°F), warm enough to enjoy without feeling sticky or overheated. Mornings and evenings are cooler, with minimum temperatures dropping to about 19°C (66°F). It’s the kind of weather where you might need a light jacket or sweater early on but can comfortably shed layers as the day warms up.

The cool weather in the mornings and evenings is one of the highlights of this time of year. You can wake up to a nice little breezy start and end your day with a cooler evening stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake or the Hanoi Old Quarter.
Another excellent part of November in Hanoi is the clear skies. There are typically blue skies with around 5-6 hours of sunshine per day. Though sometimes the pollution (at least in 2024) gets bad which will take away those blue skies.
November Climate in Numbers
November in Hanoi has some of the most consistent and enjoyable weather of the year. The average temperature hovers around 22°C (72°F), with the average maximum temperature reaching 25°C (77°F) during the afternoon. On warmer days, the expected maximum might climb to 27°C (81°F), but mornings and evenings cool things down to a comfortable 19°C (66°F), making it easy to enjoy the entire day outdoors.
Rainfall lessens this month as Hanoi transitions fully into the dry season. The amount of rainfall averages around 40-50 mm for the entire month, spread over just a handful of rainy days. The chance of rain on any given day is low, meaning you’re unlikely to get caught in a downpour. Occasional light showers might appear, but they’re brief and won’t ruin your plans.
It is sunny often! With about 5-6 hours of sunshine per day and plenty of hours of daylight to explore. The skies tend to alternate between clear and slightly hazy.
In short, Hanoi in November is perfect for anyone who loves mild, predictable weather. With its low chance of rain, plenty of sunshine, and comfortable temperatures, it’s the perfect month to explore the city.
What to Expect Throughout the Month

The weather at the beginning of the month will still be quite warm, with daytime highs reaching around 26°C (79°F) and evenings cooling down to a manageable 20°C (68°F). As the month progresses, especially in early November, you’ll notice a gradual cooling. By the end of the month, the average highs settle closer to 24°C (75°F), and evenings dip further to about 18°C (64°F).
One of the biggest shifts during November is the transition to consistent dry weather. Early in the month, there’s still a slight chance of light rain, but as November progresses, the skies clear up, and you’re left with plenty of sunshine and cool breezes.
Across Northern Vietnam, the weather mirrors Hanoi’s—a pleasant blend of cool mornings and warm afternoons. It’s a great time to visit nearby destinations like Halong Bay, Ha Giang, or Mu Cang Chai, where the cooler weather and clear skies make for awesome outdoor experiences.
